Thank you Steve, good of you to think of us! A very rare altered smock! We need to put this photo on the M40/42 thread once it is up.

What I find strange is that the loops/pockets have a very loose fit, they actually don't hold the flares, they're just hanging there, a tight fit is a must in combat and when jumping from a plane IMO...
If real I don't think the pockets are supposed to hold flares,..I can imagine when a man starts to run and roll ,...the flares are all over the place I'm afraid..
I'm just asking because the few pics I've seen all show flare pockets which have a flap or flap with snaps or something to prevent the flares from jumping out.
So,would these particular loops, pockets on this smock be created to hold standard flares ?
They normally are to hold the flares, but I think in this configuration the rather heavy flares will fall out when the man starts his attack.
Ever started running with a cell-phone in one of your open breastpockets ?

For a moment I thought Bill sold that smock! I saw this one years ago and have many detailed photos of it. It was offered to me before Bill got it, but I thought the price was 2 to 3 times what it was worth. Bill has met Dick Winters several times so I am glad he bought it. It is an exceptionally unique smock!

Carig, I suspect the FG is a dummy, but I could be wrong.

Wiili, since maybe you had the chance to have it in your hands, as far as you can remember, would you say something "field modified" or "factory added"?
