    Chief of Luftwaffen Personnel office

    Hello fellow collectors

I just bought two award docs for a Para. On one award doc which is dated 15th March 1942, Gustav Kastner-Kirdorf signed. Now my question:

I read that Kastner was only Chief of the Luftwaffe Personnel Office from 1939 to February 1943. After that it was Generaloberst Bruno Loerzer who was Chief of the Luftwaffe Personnel Office from February 1943 to December 1944.

So is it still possible that Kastner signed a award doc on March 15th 1943? I must admit that the signature is a facsimile signature. Thanks for any help.

    Greetings

    Hi Jürg,

I have yet to see a facsimile signature on a badge document. Perhaps it was done during this transition period, during the change of command of the personnel office. Perhaps someone else has a comment on this.

        Hi Jürg,

That document looks fine........and it looks like a signature to me from the photo. Why do you think it is a facsimile? Usually those, like on Kreta documents, don't look that good.

          Kastner

          Hello Willi

well I have been told that the Kastner signature always were facimile. Usually I don't buy Luftwaffen stuff but Fallschirmjäger I can't resist. Detlev Niemann had a nice Crete cuff band award doc some weeks ago but I missed it.

Anyway my main collecting area is Panzer related but after I started now with this Fallschirmjäger docs I think I might have a second area which I fell in love with.

            Hi all,

No reason to be afraid of this signature. If you want a original signature or Kastner-Kirdof, you will have to purchase early LW documents. For 1942 - 1943, it is stamped on the certificate.JYN

Interesting point Jean-Yves. I never knew that '42-'43 dated jump badge documents had facsimile signatures. All of mine are dated before Nov '40. In fact, I even found a few that were dated for the same jump school date, 28 Sep 40.
