question from a novice re: FJ Badge

    Hi,

i have been offered a cased FJ Jump qualification badge, from the photos i have received it looks good and the case is almost certainly original, more importantly the dealer seems to have a fair reputation with some nice original items.

my question is, were all these badges maker marked? this particular badge is not marked in any way.

his price is $450 about £250 so its important to make the right decision, which i understand is very perilous with the scary fakes out there, its alot of money to me if its not the genuine article.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hello!

FJ badges will come with and without a maker mark (depends on the special maker, style...). Anyway, a picture of the item in question would be appreciated.

thanks Bob, i agree this forum is invaluable. the dangers of collecting 3rd Reich are great indeed. i am not a wealthy collector and need to make the right decisions before purchase.
My heart says BUY! but my wallet says wait and see!!!

i did buy a nice Gebirgsjager cap badge from the dealer with the FJ jump badge and it looks very good in comparison to another so called Original edelweiss i purchased. The detail being so much crisper and the badge itself is heavier.

i hope the FJ badge checks out when the pics are posted.

                  Hello,

                  here're the pics

The badge looks like a good S&L to me, the case is a repro imo.

Case is repro (IMHO) and for the badge........... I can´t get a warm feeling with. Would like to see a closer picture of the eagle details though.

Thanks for the replies, would $480 USD be too much to pay for the badge even if the case is reproduction and the badge original?

Thankyou for posting the pics Heinrich.
