Hi Luca,

From what you desrcibe, that dogtag does not sounds right. A Korps level dogtag is very odd, it should usually reflect a Kompanie or a Bataillon. I am not a HG historian, but I think it was only made a Korps in late '44/ early '45 in the east.

Hi Luca,

I've been collecting ID discs for about a year now and I've learned that the VAST majority of tags you'll find that are stamped 'HG' are fakes. Just like SS tags, it's VERY hard to find a real one. They seem to be one of those things that you can only trust if you yourself get it from the family of a HG-Div veteran. That's the only way I'd believe one was authentic.
