Les Lions de Carentan - FJR 6 1943-1945

    Hi guys !

Just an information for French-speakers; the book from Volker Griesser, Die L******246;wen von Carentan- Das Fallschirmj******228;ger-Regiment 6 1943-45 is avalaible in French. ISBN : 284048210X, EABN : 9782840482109.

The Editor is HEIMDAL. Format A4, 136 pages, illustrations are B&W but the French editor did include some in color; mainly for the Normandy part.

I didn't read all the book yet but, I wish I could have the German edition for comparison. The translation seems a bit weird sometimes.

The layout is OK. Photos of uniforms and helmets have been put in the book to illustrate the Fallschirmj******228;ger outfit. There is some good stuff but there is a Tarnnetz who looks a modern copy to me.

Readers will find some very good personal accounts from FJR 6 survivors.

    Very good work Volker !

      Hello,
thanks for recommending my book, Jean-Yves.
I hope they corrected some of the layout mistakes and misinterpretations which I noted in my pre-print.
The translation was completely done by Heimdal, so I have no idea what's in the book, really...

My German publisher is currently re-reading the proofs, so it should be in print soon, maybe in time for the Kassel gun show.

      best regards,
      Volker

                Hello,
thank you for your interest in my book.
The German edition is available from the publisher at
                www.vs-books.de

The French edition has been done by Edition HEIMDAL, but I can't really tell you if they sell directly or through booksellers.

                best regards,
                Volker

Les Lions de Carentan FJR6 1943-1945

Good to hear that this book is finally available. I was surprised to learn that a French version is available. Seems confusing but I would like to know if the German edition be different from the French edition? If they are different.......how so?

                  Thanks,
                  Russ

                    Hello,
it can be different since my publisher, VS-Books, has sold the rights for the French version to Heimdal. They thought it would be great to add photos of certain landmarks described in the text to increase sales in that region of France.
I think it is rigged to be sold in every souvenir shop in Normandy. After all, that region lives off tourism.
They also dropped some photos and maybe text passages to accommodate their standard format.
I as author, have no say in this.
Even if my German publisher chooses to play with my text and photos, I can't do much about it.
You never know what's in the book untill it has been printed.

                    best regards,
                    Volker

                        Hello,
I know that my publisher is negotiating with an English and a US-based publisher.
They will return from the Frankfurt Buchmesse on Wednesday, so I might get some news update then.

                        best regards,
                        Volker

                            Hello Volker,

Please inform us regarding the US based publisher doing your book in English when you have more information. My French is good, but obtaining a copy in English would be better. Looking forward to purchasing a copy.
                            Regards,
                            Russ

                              thank you for your support.
It is great to know that my effort is appreciated. You will see that the men featured in the book have really amazing stories to tell.

                              best regards,
