        Hey COPPER!!

Take a look at this link http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120253 Discussion on this Jump smock says it is original. Since it is near mint it will command a high price in the end. Bill

I´m sure, that nobody here would give a buck for such a Manions cert., but I would set some Euros for Willi´s, John´s and Steve´s opinion here (of course only if I would be interested in a smock ).

What I have never understood is why anyone bids on anything on Ebay with more than 30 seconds remaining in the auction? What exactly is the point in being the high bidder with eight days left in the auction? What does that get you? It's like sprinting out to be the leader of a marathon after the first 100 yards. All it does is cost them money by running the price up. Why don't these guys just take the money out of their wallets and burn it instead?

                Hi

This smock will not be in E-bay for the next 8 days. With an expensive item like that you just use E-bay as a cheap advertising platform and wait for the e-mails coming in. I am sure a serious offer has already been made to the current owner. Once they come to an agreement the auction will be pulled (item no longer for sale, destroyed, what ever...) and the deal will happen elswhere. This also saves the seller the e-bay fees for let's say 6000$, quite a high amount...

                cheers
                Uwe

It´s something male dogs do when they flag up their territories........

Anyway, almost better as to make propaganda for an active auction and drop everyones nose (the non-FJ collector ones) on an item. Sometimes a picture or two would be more than enough in that case...............

It sold for more than any of the guesses on this site. It was, without question, authentic-I've known the veteran for decades and was with him when he retrieved it from his VFW. I only got the Manions certificate to make selling easier not knowing Manions reputation had gone down.

No one doubted its authenticity once we saw the photos and the close up of the eagle. Where were all the guesses on this site? And, by whom? It was really a super nice smock, but many of us own mint splinter smocks and know what they can bring on the open market.

I am glad the veteran received a good price for his war trophy. He deserves it.

The veteran did indeed get a great price-and a very expensive steak dinner-for it and many other pieces years ago. He has since passed away. So what is the source of all of the mint splinter pattern smocks??

I do not understand this question, "the source?" ????

The source is the multitude of WW II US veterans who brought them home, then put them in attics, basements, closets and then forgot about them.

I was refering to the "mint" part. I'm fairly familiar with the way German war booty made it to the US, I just wasn't aware of how many "mint" FJ smocks were out there.
