As already stated by some, this IS a member of Rgt "Danmark" and NO Para.
A veteran from 8/24 rememered him but couldnt but a name on him, although J have a clue who it was.

He was from one of the following units as I/24 was fighting in Hungary
and II/24(-) never made to Berlin but surrendered east of Hamburg.

Only the 8/24 from II/24 was in Berlin together with III/BTN, Staf, 14 and 16 Coy.

The killed Hstf is wearing the Danish Armshield as well as infanteriesturmabzeichen and EK I

          regards Jens

The young man in the far left with trench coat has really long and unkempt hair. Was it not uncommon for troops to have such long hair?

Interesting photos and information, thanks for sharing.

TWP, yes it was not uncommon for troops to have very long hair on top.

                Hello,
in the battle for Berlin, various scattered FJ units, rarely more than alarm units, were employed.
One of my veteran friends who was wounded in late 1944 was sent to the Eastern front in April 1945 after a week of furlough. He ended up fighting on the steps of the chancellory together with other Germans, Norwegians, Dutch, French and Belgian volunteers untill finally overrun by the Russians.

                best regards,
                Volker
