    Ground Assult Badges

    Hi everyone,
I have always wondered if the only flight personel that could earn the Luftwaffe Ground Assult badge was paratroopers. Do any of you have any thoughts on this subject? Or does anyone know what the regulations said? Here's pics of mine. Any ideas who made it as I can find no markings.

      Hello Terry,

All Luftwaffe personal was able to receive it => as long as they did forfill the correct criteria ( for example : there are pilots known who earned, gldier pilots, Flak personal, etc ...... )

It seems to me a late war variant ( Zinc ) badge with a BUntmetal eagle attached => mayby someone can identify the maker ? ( not me )

      Cordial Greetings,

              Thanks Stijn David,
Eagle looks to be brass silver plate, hollow? really different.
Also came from vet on uniform(flight) missing qualification badge. I always assumed it was para. You think maybe not? Maybe pilot?

                Hello,

Thats a very tough question => the piping was yellow from the TUnic so it was either a Para or someone of the aircrews .

IMHO it could be , para, pilot, glider pilot, observer, air gunner, etc ....

So you really have a wide choice there and unless the tunic was directly vet. obtained ( + you can contact him back and ask ) I guess we will never know

There are some markings inside the trousers and I can't make them out, but they might shed some light on what unit or the mans name. He was a GKg and RKT holder. Wish I could find out. May post pics later.

                    Hi Terry,

as said right our friend Stijn, this award was able to be win from reparts not flying too.

For example, my father in law were official in LW Flak units and he were winner of this badge.

Following is his personal badge, he found it in the ground of forest where he covered his uniform, soldbuch and other things when the war finished and when he cames back from Hamburg to Hannover by foot. But unfortunately, after some time he went back to this place and found only few things, because pleoples had clear of mines the zone.
