I agree probably more 3rd FJD. The thing is that the previous period picture i posted is located Between Tessy sur Vire and Domjean, there was for sure some guys from the 3rd FJD there!

Very interesting discussion... IMO, helmet of post 17 with date on top and bottom is from a 5. FjD's member. It was indeed the date of the Cobra offensiv, western of Saint Lo.
I have a MG ammunition box with a Fp. Nr of FJR13 with such brown/green hand made camo color.

FJ Camo Helmet in Normandy

In Normandy, Fallschirmjäger wore multiple camouflages on their helmets: sand yellow and green, sand yellow, brown and green, three tons, textured (sand, sawdust ...). Some have retained the camouflage worn in Italy or on the eastern front; others have camouflaged their helmets in the field.
