    Pionier Assault Bags

I have been trying to locate a great photo I saw somewhere of a FJ wearing a Pioniersturmgepäck. Just can't recall which book I saw it in. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Here is the one from Klaus Peters' "FJR3 - Volume 2".

    Hi Willi,

There's one in volume 2 of my Fallschirmjäger book, on page 228. But the para in the photo has only the right hand pouch attached to his belt.

    Cheers

        Hi Karl,

I did check that page last night, but couldn't see anything. Perhaps I need to upgrade my reading glasses!

@Julien, I am not familiar with the "Rouen" source. Still checking my book shelves...

There is a great foto of a helmeted para with full set of pio pouches in one of the french Militaria Maganzines.

Thanks Waldo, that may be the one I had in mind. I just found that one in my files. Looks like FJs on Kreta, for a numbers of reasons. The strap on the MP pouch is like those used to attach the pouches to their ankles for the jump.

But, I seem to recall the one Patrick mentioned; both sides.

Yes, certainly the same MG gunner.

My bags appear to have the same color of Prym 6 snap covers as the last FJ. Unlike the color of the one on top.

                    Willi,

Concerning the promised photo in volume 2, I've learned now that you should always check the actual printed book instead of the very last draft... We kicked the image out in our last layout session.

The photo is from the late Hermann Pütz of FJR 6 and depicts his comrade Hans Ruis in Normandy.

                    Cheers

Looks more like a 6 cell MP pouch...

Is it a M43 cap with Heer eagle on the first picture ?
