Ramcke Brigade book by JY Nasse

It seems to me years ago I have leafed through a very good looking book by Jean-Yves Nasse about the Ramcke Brigade, with oral history included. I would like to buy it now, but cant seem to find any references about it anywhere. Perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me? Does anyone know what book I am talking about?

While I am at it, are there any other good Ramcke Brigade books to be recommended, I mean ones with in depth text, not the large picture books.

    Thanks

    JL

Are you sure it wasn't the book written by member Edgar Alcidi ?

      Hello,

The FJs in North Africa is a small part in my first book "Green Devils: German Paratroopers, 1939-1945" published in 1997.

      The reference book is this one ;

      Regards,

        OK, thanks!
I have bought Alcidi's book already, but it is mostly a photographic reference.
If there any book with in depth text? Perhaps in German?

One of the reference book regards FJ activities in Africa is the first of a 3 volumes named "Die deutsche Fallschirmtruppe 1942-1945". (9783813205770)

This volume "Einsätze auf Kriegsschauplätzen im Süden" has been wrote in 1998 by Hans M. Stimpel is a very good book from my point of you.

Any good / detailed references in English JYN ? I have your Green Devils book, of course
Worth a mention in this context is Folgore, North African Operations 40-43 by Paolo Morisi which is a good book too.

To be frank, I have been selling military books for 30 years and concerning books related to the history of Brigade Ramcke, they are few. On another hand if it is information regarding uniforms and gears worn in Africa, there are several books.

While I certainly continue to enjoy Edgar's great book, here is the Stimpel book JYN is referring to.

Like books on Kreta, many of the previous writings on the Ramcke Brigade in English present numerous "patriotic myths." I checked some of Ramcke's early books in German, but they don't help much, as they seem to start at Brest. Same with the most recent book on Ramcke in English.

You will find some accounts about the Ramcke brigade in " les diables verts " les parachutistes allemands 1939 - 1945, récits et témoignages de J.Y. Nasse, pages 60 to 69 with some nice photos. Editor : Histoire & collections, 5 avenue de la République, 75541 Paris cedex 11.

Looks like a great book. It is in "pre-order" status right now, so I will wait. I assume it will be available in English as well, but these things take time.

Should be interesting , only 128 pages though , wonder if it’s more of a pictures book ...anyone heard of Hans Rechenberg ? May have been a man of slight interest to the CIA post war ....

                              Hi, Shaun and Willi

I think that the book will be available in English but in the first time in French.

                              Thanks, David
