Lock down fun Steve, but have been out practicing RAPID social distancing which is also much fun.

A detail of the helmet, note how thin the net is where it wraps around the rim. And if anyone is interested in the lot number, there it is.

      Thank you David!

Yes, fantastic stuff. Regarding the helmet, is the camo on it considered later war such as Ardennes timeframe or later? The stick grenade seems to have a texture to the head. Was this common throughout the war or was it strictly later war?

Homer H. bought it from VG and then sent it to me. The net appears to have been on the helmet since the war, note how the net is looped to the chin strap.

Сool helmet, John and I must say IMO it's very close to camo job and configuration to Willi's one.

You are correct Sergey, and this helmet once had wire before the net was applied.

Thanks for all the positive comments gentlemen!

MP 38, do you collect MP38s? If so, your question is surprising. German grenades are concussive weapons, they have a high explosive charge in basically what amounts to a tin can. What you see on the grenade in the photo is a frag sleeve which could be attached over the can. Will shoot a detail photo and post it later if you wish.

Meanwhile, a great period photo of nets.

Regarding the helmet, I consider the helmet from the summer of 1944, as the one in this photo, which also has the solid steel bolts.

I wish I had the $ to collect a weapon like that. The answer is no. Forgive me for asking questions that may seem to show my lack of knowledge of some of these items. Im among a lot of expertise here and it humbles me to say the least. Im always learning if that's ok.
