White topped officers cap question

Hi gents, are there many pics of these being worn at the front by officers in Africa & Italy ? Would this be a possible practice , or very rare / impossible ? I gather Witzig and Koch didn't always wear their helmets for example... Any comments appreciated

Perhaps it was a practice more likely in Africa, John H's great book has a pic of Major Burkhardt wearing one in Africa on page 150 I have just noticed too.

Many wore white caps in the field and not only in Africa..

I add the picture below simply because I found it during the same search, and for some very peculiar reason always find rations eaten in Africa interesting

It is worth noting that it is Brigadier Clifton ( DSO and 2 bars, MC) being interrogated by Rommel & Burhardt, as he had just been captured by the Folgore , he went on to make around 9 attempts of escape, finally succeeding in March 1945. A very impressive bloke.
