Definately Luftwaffe, but there is no way to tell whether it was a fallschirmjaeger who owned it or not. I can't make out the numbers inside the ring, maybe you could transcribe them so we could see them better.

        Cheers

Clearly an original Luftwaffe ring. The center was probably for an insert, not a stone. Could there have been a FJ badge insert in the center? Perhaps, but no way to tell now.

                Hi Katsumasa,

No one should/is offended by someone adding to a thread. Especially when it is useful information.

The fakes, even when artificially aged, just don't look like era made rings with natural wear.

The two on the thread are very different. Makes for a nice comparison study.

Chay, with the middle piece missing, yours will be a tough ring to sell and get a good price. IMO. Yes, it appears original.

Igor found this ring in the pocket of a Russian tunic! Its a lousy photo unfortunately, but a good example of one type of original para ring. No doubt there are others.

Mr. Zahn , your comment "Clearly an original Luftwaffe ring". Why "clearly"? Have you seen this ring before with good provenance? Or any advertisements in Der Adler? Or a period photo in wear? , thanks , G.

Hi G., it is based on me having seen a number or original rings and a number of fake rings. It is about the wear patterns, construction details, and some other features. It is only my opinion.

As for Igor's ring, yes the photo makes it tough to tell. But, there are only two style of FJ rings accepted as the original style by most FJ collectors. His looks close in style to one of them. A better photo or two will give me a better idea.

What is that ring made of?
