Guys,
I thought I´d share this "battleworn" latewar Soldbuch of a Panzergrenadier before I sell it.
It was issued March 23 1944 by Panzergrenadier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 361. Later Aufderhaas was transfered to different units and ended up with Panzergrenadier-Regiment 10 of 9. Panzer-Division. No award entries, but a small piece of paper with his POW number and other information, dated November 22 1944, which indicates he was taken prisoner. The fact that he was promoted to Gefreiter on November 1 1944 (page three says Nov 5) means that he was still with his unit by that time, so he must have been captured between Nov 1 (or 5) and Nov 22. I´d assume he was caputured by the middle of November. If I am correct then he must have been taken POW in the Venlo area.
Certainly not a highly decorated soldier, but we have to show respect to the "normal" men who suffered more than any General as well, even if they didn´t earn any awards. Interesting nevertheless and a classic Westfront Soldbuch in my opinion!
Hope you like it.
Best,
Matthias
