There is nothing made up blurry or wrong with that Entry, even without anything coming along with this Soldbuch i would not be worried. And since when is Reg.Kdr wrong for Regiments Kommandeur? Put that in Google and even there it will pop up first what it is As soon as i put it all together and got the rest of it, i will post everything here.

Very nice. Any chance you could post the pictures? Are there any with sniper rifles?

I agree with Lionel that "Reg." is an unusual abbreviation for Regiment. However, I do like what I see!

EK II was awarded by Regiment "Deutsch-Krone" This Gneisenau unit had a connection with Artillerie-Schule II Groß-Born.

Who was the Commander of Regiment "Deutsch-Krone" ?

Interesting wording "Scharfschützenabzeichen in Bronze ohne Rand"

Definitely the name begins with "S" and ends with "r." There are no letters that have descenders (like "g" or Sütterlin "h") or ascenders (Sütterlin "s", "t") .... so we have a line of vowels and consonants such as u, n, m.

          S****r

          Perhaps something like Sommer???

          http://www.historic.de/Militar/Perso...mer/Sommer.htm

          16.02.1944 Oberst i. G. in Uniform als SS-Standartenführer der Waffen-SS (RDA 01.02.1944(34))
          27.06.1944 Chef VI. SS-Armeekorps
15.01.1945 Ende der Kommandierung zur Waffen-SS und Kommandeur GR 368
          20.02.1945 Heeresgruppe Weichsel

          Just guessing!!!

            I agree with your guess!

Oberst i.G. Sommer was to take command of "Division Pommern" (an ad hoc unit that never was a Division). Regiment Deutsch-Krone seemed to be related.

In the first week of March 1945, Oberst i.G. Sommer was wounded and his command was taken over by Oberst von Witzleben.

            .

Yeah, I saw that on the top of page 4 and couldn't make any sense of it ... "dt. Krone" is also noted on the Oberst's annotation regarding the EK-II; wasn't sure if I was "translating" it correctly or not.

By the way can you or someone else clarify the spaced comment at the end of the Sharfschutzen abzeichen in Bronze was? "opu ...R(or K)end?"

Edit: never mind .... I see you answered it already as "ohne Rand" ... without edge? Would this be a cloth award?

              Thanks,

Yes - I believe "Bronze" is meant symbolically for "lowest level"

Joachim Neumann survived the war and lived in West Germany, he died in 1993, his wife Sophie died in 2004

The Neumanns of Giesen (now Giżyno) in Pommeria were wealthy landowners and farmers.
Joachim was an accomplished hunter before the war (hence the shooting experience, I guess).

Their country home was quite a palace (see below)

"After the reunification of Germany, the Neumann family, i.e. the last heir Joachim Neumann, his wife Sophie
and the children discussed the purchase of the family property in Giżyno. Unfortunately, due to the deterioration
of health and death of Joachim as well as economic considerations and the possible purpose of the residence,
they decided to abandon the idea."

                    Hi Naxos,

Could this highlighted word Rand possibly be Band: "Band, Farbband, Schleife, Ordensband, Kordon"?

I just saw another post for "Eherenzeichen am Band" on the linked post and just thought ...... hmmmmmm.

                      Hi Guy,

No, it definitely reads: "ohne Rand" - that means "third class (without cord)"

January 29, 1945; "The sniper-training company of Oberleutnant Neumann in the defense of Deutsch Krone."

On page 136 - Chapter; "The Fall of Deutsch Krone"

"In the afternoon of Saturday February 10, 1945 Oberleutnant Neumann and some of his snipers were able to escape the Russian encirclement
of Deutsch Krone by sneaking through the city forest and making it over the last makeshift-bridge at Dreetz before its demolition."
