Then he went from a Gebirgsjäger to a Grenadier: 1st: Gren.Ers.Btl 60; 2nd, his last posting was to the Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 460 HQed in Ulm.

On October 7, 1942, the battalion in Bruyeres was divided into an Infantry Replacement Battalion 460 and a Reserve Infantry Battalion 460. The new replacement battalion received the field post number 48822, which was canceled in 1943, and was subordinate to this October 7, 1942 Division 465th The Reserve Battalion was under the establishment of the 165th Reserve Division. Both battalions wererenamed on November 2, 1942 Grenadier Replacement Battalion 460 and Reserve Grenadier Battalion 460. The reserve battalion was relocated after the renaming to Sens. The replacement battalion was relocated to Ulm, in Wehrkreis V, in December 1942. The replacement battalion was apparently stationed there in the Flanders barracks. The Reserve Battalion was relocated on 1 January 1944 to s'Heerenhoek on Zealand in Denmark and used for coastal protection. In August 1944, the Reserve Battalion was used to form the 70th Infantry Division and thus dissolved.
