Interesting group.
I'm not an expert of the fights in eastern France but IMO, he won his EK 2 during the fights in the south western sector of Strasbourg (LXIV. AK later IV. Lw FK) Probably between Saint-Dié et Gerardmer, on both sides of Meurthe river. This region is called "the Vosges" (low mountains). It is not yet very close of Strasbourg. On award document, date is 27 november, so it was probably during these fights of Vosges (Vogesen in german language).And not against french resistance but mainly US army. 716.ID fought only fewtimes against french army who came from the south.
Funny to see that he was also called Richter, as the division's Kdr.

If the last entry is in march 45, it means that he survived to the fights in Alsace (also called Colmar pocket) where several germans divisions were destroyed. He was able to cross the large Rhine but probably ended war in Rhineland.
