      Hello Ralf,

I think it is unlikely you will find your Father's Soldbuch, however have you contacted the Deutsches Dienststelle (WASt) to see what documents they have for your Father?

      http://www.com-de.pair.com/wast/

I know with a good family friend, his Soldbuch was taken from him at a PoW camp near London, apparently these were kept by the Government until the 1950's when they were all sent back to Germany. Where I can not say, however they are no longer here!
My friend tried the Bundesarchiv and WASt but the documents were not there....

      http://www.bundesarchiv.de/

I think it is worth at least contacting both agencies and explaing your situation.

Sorry, I can not was what the US Government did with these documents.

      Regards,
      Ian

                    Herr Hemel,

I am sorry to hear about your father, please accept my sincerest condolences.

Did the WASt or Bundesarchiv provide any information for you? Also did you ask about your Father's Wehrpaß, or did he have that?

Normally if a relative, the WASt will provide copies of all they have on that person.

                    /Ian
