Found in a rubbish pit by a friend who couldn't make out what was on it, I first simply read 1. Kradschutzen Ersatz Kompanie. Then a couple of minutes later i picked it up again and turned it over to see if there was anything on the back, rubbing the dirt off i nearly fell over.

You just do not find W-SS tags in Norway. Given it's find location and context i believe it was lost by a member of 6 SS Geb.Div. Nord as they moved through Norway nov-dec 44 on their way to the continent.

Nice find indeed. Just out of curiosity. What was the reason for stamping the reverse of the EKM? Lack of space to put it all on one side?
