Luftwaffe Deutsche Kreuz in Gold set

I want to share this beautiful set belonged to feldwebel Bernhard Kämmerling, who fought on the eastern front flying on FW-189 recon planes, mainly with 5.(H) Aufklärungsgruppe 11. He operated in southern sector, Don, Caucasus and probably around Stalingrad too.
Only the award paper for the spange in gold is unfortunately missing.

    He was awarded:
    -Fliegerschutzenabzeichen
    -EK2
    -EK1
    -Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz
    -Frontflugspange fur Aufklarer in Bronze
    -Frontflugspange fur Aufklarer in Silver
    -Frontflugspange fur Aufklarer in Gold
-Ehrenpokal für besondere Leistung im Luftkrieg
    -Deutsche Kreuz in Gold

Hi John ! We know us already from somewhere else, I mean ;-). Nice set from K., I had the great opportunity to discuss with this vet many years ago and to get some (metal) stuff from him. He wanted to keep his paper stuff for the rest of his life, and this has been sold after his death by his son, I am happy it is know in your Hands, and that the group stayed together. Congrats for this nice aquisition. Kämmerling was a touching guy who lived in a very simple appartment. His military period, and the war, was the most important moment of his life.

That is a heck of a nice document group. The pic of him striking a pose with the ammo belt is pretty cool too. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

My pleasure John. As that time, meeting german Gross Holders was something usual for me, and to be honest, I perhaps not measured enough how lucky I was. Now I regret many questions I didn't asked, particularly to Gents who served in Units I am eagerly collecting now or went to schools loke Potsdam or Krampnitz which I am now looking every kind of information thereabout. Well, no regrets, just "c'est la vie" ;-)
