As Kev mentioned....it's been around for years....re-enactors do it....problem is these stamps then get used for the wrong thing....

On my phone it does appear to be ink on the staple matching the line of the stamp outline.

How common is it to encounter a Soldbuch photo attached via 4 staples?

Certainly this discussion is thought provoking.

I really don't think, in today's time of master fakers, that discussing the fine details provides more knowledge to fakers. I think the higher duty is to help collectors over those concerns.

Hope the ones I had made never get misused!

I ginned up a Soldbuch and other documents for a friend of mine [you guys knew HaEn?] as his personal mememento of his service. Info was based on his two original Stammkarten, hospital report from Deutsche Dienststelle (he provided me), and personal memories. The Dienststelle report also included his Erkennungsmarke, so I had one ginned up as well). Fake stamps were made and I attempted [poorly] to adjust writing styles.

Also made a fake Stammkarte, based from his originals, with the nom de plume [Hans Nystein] he used for his memoir. It would have been used for his book if ever it was published (not).

All these were for his personal use and I'm certain none would ever be mistaken by the collector community .... they'd laugh at it right away.
