    SS Wehrpass on estand

    The NCO on the photo can not be the man the Wehrpass is issued to. This Wehrpass is issued to a 43 year old man! (and of course, the photo is not stamped)

    There might be more issues.

    Naxos, agree. Looked over the photo. The individual looks to be in there 20's.

      Is there any feedback on this seller?

        I agree. It's very rare to see the picture of the man in uniform unless the Wehrpass is a Zweitschrift (and this is not the case from what I can see).
        In my opinion the picture was added to make it nicer and increase the value.
        Another issue is about the last entry at page 12 which I believe to be a fake.
        The writing " U/23/54" has no sense to me, as the last number should be "45". A wartime mistake? Maybe, who knows, but it's very hard to believe for me.

          This WP was one of those found in a metal box by metal detectorists in Halbe (East-Germany) in the 90ies. The Unit 6/86 and the traces of moisture are typical of those. The photo is of course (well spotted Naxos ) a recent addition. The other page presented in the E-Stand is OK.

            Thanks for all inputs!

            The wherpass is sold as bought. I can not tell if the photo is added later and have no problem to accept that if that is a fact.
            The book was bought from a respectable seller so had no reason to believe something was wrong.

            I am selling parts of my collection. Most of it is bought from Rick White, I would say pretty descent and respectable seller.
            Other items are bought from respectable collectors housing on this forum.

              If the photo is the only addition then not a big problem to remove it. I would however like to see the award entries in the hope they, if any, have not been tampered with.

                I think it is original. SS men from foreign countries usually didn't have the photo stamped and the guy was in uniform. Surf this forum and others, you will find it to be common The awards should be in the wehrpass but the stammkarte seems to be a more accurate document.

                Just my observations anyway.

                  Lee Luke,

                  Does this man look to you like he is over 40 years old?

                  Also, I would like to see the promotion and award pages.

                    Hi all -

                    Mr. Lee Luke has a point.

                    I have found that there are three reasons why a soldier would have a uniform photo in his Wehrpass:

                    - he was already in the service when the Wehrpass was issued (1930s);

                    - the Wehrpass is a Zweitschrift;

                    - he is a Volksdeutsche or foreigner

                      Not applicable in this case.

                      Did you read the DOB? ----- March 07, 1900

                      This man would have been already over 40 years old to earn the Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen or a Verwundetenabzeichen, yet he looks 20 in the photo!

                        it is quite common to find a duplicate Wehrpass without photos and without signature ..... and usually the photo added was the same as in the archive with the release of the first document ... I have I have and I have seen several wehrpass with the reserve photo.... here it is evident the incongruity of age as noted by Naxos

                          A man's age isnt always represented in a photo.

                          I am not trying to be stubborn on this discussion but I would be convinced one way or the other if it was possible to actually handle the wehrpass.
