Very rare. Just love the Rommel signature and naturally all the rest too

Well, a nice group indeed, but "very rare" is not my opinion.

Well you dont realy see a sturmgeschutz lot every day,...and Rommel original signature even scarcer,...so i can easily call this very rare

There are a lot of Stug's Group in collections, on militaria Fairs,..... Erwin Rommel signed as a divisional commander exactly as much award documents as any other general at this time, and many more later during his further Duties.... The fact that this signature is more sought after that other generals don't make it "very rare". Concerning your - nice - Group, I note the soldier was awarded the KvK in 1944, and not even the iron Cross 2nd class, which clearly indicates he was not mainly implicated in major combat actions at that time. So again, "very rare" is IMO more a business approach than an conclusion based on historical facts.

I like the Dog tag very much, cavalry Tags are neither that rare, but scarce, and always interesting.

I agree that it is not rare but I do always enjoy seeing Rommel signatures when he was a division commander (for actions related to France) as opposed to his later days when he gained Africa fame.

I guess I'm not looking at the right places or we just have different point of view what for someone is considered rare. I can use this term with enough confidence with this set

The high number of comments on this set shows how rare and impressive it is for the collectors community here Well, it is just humour, allright !!

It so happens I have the same type document to a Gefreiter Keilhauer 1./ S.R. 1 with Sturmabzeichen lined out and Panzerkampfabzeichen written above signed on the same date 5.1.41 and same div. stamp and the reversed check after ---Kommandeur. Can I call this rare even if it's only a single document? Up to now I thought of it as simply a desirable signature on a pre-Africa fame Rommel-signed document.

A nice group for sure and i agree with Lionel's comments. A double assault badge award is quite rare but there is a tendency for people to confuse rare with desirable and this group is certainly desirable.

                    "Rare"
                    "Scarce"
                    "Desirable"

All of the above for me. you can also add:

                    "Nice!"

                    and

                    "Envious"

                    Thanks for showing it.

Nice group alright , I think fairly rare just to have dog tag soldbuch and award documents all together (+Rommel signature). A shame the photo is missing.

I've seen it before but where the Erkennungsmarke number in the soldbuch is crossed out and another written, how do you tell if someone hasn't added the dogtag later and put that new number in the soldbuch themselves ?

In this case it's pretty save to say that the dog tag is legit since he was actually serving in the Nachrichtenzug of that Regiment.

                          Hello !

                          Very nice group !
I can't comment on the rare/desirable topic, but it is clear, that it is very difficult to surprise/deeply impress Lionel !

I think there might have been even more positive responses, if some more details on the career would have been explained.
E.g., he must have been at sometime with 1. Pz.Div., another very interesting unit, but from when on ?!

Also the change of the EKM number might be interesting, but I cannot read what was written before.
                          (I would assume a clerk mistake ...)

In assistance to what naxos already wrote :
This Kav.Schtz.Rgt. 6 existed only for a very short time, (so the EKM itself is very interesting).
And then it was redesignated to Schtz.Rgt. 6, matching this soldiers' career.
To use an "other EKM", to somehow "upgrade" this group makes not much sense IMO.

                          Best regards,

                          Archi
