    Help with soldbuch

    Hi
My Father was in the Heer from 1941 to 1945. I have his Soldbuch, but I am having trouble reading and understanding several entries.
I can’t post a picture but perhaps I can send a pm or email to anyone who can help.
The main entries I have having difficulty in are:
On the first page the Soldbuch gives his name and ranks as
    Kanonier
    1st promotion to Gefreiter 1/19/42
    2nd promotion to Obegerfreiter 1/11/44

But on page 3 it lists 1st promotion again to Gefreiter, HKP 611, but 2nd promotion I can’t read, something like ‘Graufagrad’ Pz A.R. 119, NOT Obergefreiter. Why is that?

Next problem is on page 7 Issued equipment:
He was issued a Schirmmütze and Waffenrock on 22/10/43 ( unusual for his rank and that late in the war I am told)
But the next item to Waffenrock issued reads like “217” on same date, what is that?

Last problem is page 23 Leave
Under ‘Grund, ( reason for issue of leave) I can’t read the word
    Something like ‘ Lofaburiglurlaub‘

Can anyone help with this please.

I will try to help you with your last question: issue of leave.

    Could it be "Erholungsurlaub" ?

Brian sent me scans of the relevant Soldbuch pages.

The ranks on page 1 are:

        - Kanonier (initial)
        - Gefreiter (1 Oct. 1942)
        - Obergefreiter (1 Nov. 1944)

The entries on page 3 are just details on/official confirmations of said entries on page 1. The columns are headed:

"consecutive number / kind of alteration / date / unit / signature / rank and duty position"

The terms in the second colum are "Gefreiter" (no. 1) and "Dienstgrad" [rank] (no. 2). The officer who made the first entry repeated the actual entry, the one who made the second one just stated the kind of alteration, i.e. a change of rank.

The Waffenrock was discontinued at the outbreak of war and no longer manufactured or issued. However, after 1940, existing pieces were converted for field wear (piping and sleeve patches were removed, subdued insignia applied, pockets attached etc.) and issued to replacement units. Apparently, this is what the entry on page 7 refers to. Sorry, don't know about the "217".

The leave on page 23 was indeed "Erholungsurlaub" [recreational leave] on all three occasions (it is spelled out for the first two and abbreviated as "Erh.-Url." for the third), more specifically home leave to Kochlowitz in Upper Silesia (today Kochłowice in Poland).

Page 3 says Dienstgrad, indicate that is a promotion.

No idea what 217 is, sorry.

Leave is Erholungsurlaub, a normal leave for time service on the front.

Can you put more for the Soldbuch? units, hospital time, awards, weapons,....

          Thanks

          Angel
Looking for DKiG Heer winner Soldbuch who also won the TDB and/or CCC, specially in Silver.

Thank you for your help, perhaps someone else knows what the “217” means.
I understand the Waffenrock issue, but to be issued a Schirmmütze is rare for a junior rank, is it not. It coincides nearly with a leave pass home issued, perhaps he was attending a family event, wedding, funeral etc. My late Mother told me though, that he never actually went back to Poland throughout the entire war, and didn’t see his family again until 1968.
If anyone was interested in seeing more, I would be happy to post them. I have just joined As association member so I believe I can post pictures now?

Not as such. All ranks (including privates) wore the peaked service cap with walking-out dress and "small" service dress.

I'd say page 4 has an answer for the meaning of the mysterious "217".

Note that his replacement unit was Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 217.

I'd say it refers to shoulder-board slip-ons with the unit cypher.

I found this picture in Nigel Thomas book the German Army 39 to 45 vol 2.
I am certain it is my Father, but he never was an NCO. But the time and place is correct!

If anyone can help me further with my fathers CF631A2E-D262-45DA-8A41-E42E5E5567B3.jpgldbuch. In between pages 6&7 there is an inserted page, with items I don’t recognize. As you can see it is marked above the issued items: 2/S.F.l Pz.1.R.119. Are these special items, can anybody tell me what they are, especially the items written by hand.

It refers to shoulder strap slides with "217" on.
