Help needed, Warschau WIA, EK2 kampfgruppe Reinefarth

    Hi,

Recently I was able to buy this gorgeous Warschau related Soldbuch. I just started researching but I already need your help. Fahnenjunker d. Reserve Karl Pöhler was at the time of the uprising in Warschau a member of Grenadier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 473. That is at least what I think I'm able to tell from his Soldbuch. I cannot see any connection with this unit and the uprising in Warschau but Karl was wounded by a bullet 29.08.1944. This wound wasn't his first and was a pretty serious one, he was awarded the SWB on 02.10.1944. 4 days later on 06.10.1944 het was awarded the EK2 which was granted by Kampfgruppe Reinefarth. This Kampfgruppe was at the same level as Dirlewanger pretty much.
Karl also has a Nahkampftag on 24.08.1944 at Zötsenstrasse(?). Haven't figured out which street that is in nowadays Warschau or if it even still exists.
There is an entry on page 14 that might shed some light. On this page you can see the stamp of Feldlazerett (mot) 672 with the date 24.08.1944 which is the same date as his Nahkampftag.

My main questions--> How is Grenadier-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Bataillon 473 connected to the uprising and does anyone know about this Zötsenstrasse(?)?

    Very much appreciated,

    Mats

      Hello !

      Some ideas :
      Last unit on p. 17 B.) is : Unterführer-Kompanie Gren.-EuA.-Btl. 473

On the bottom of the page with the SB photo it says :
      ROB. Wehrkreis-Unterführer-Lehrgang VI (or similar)

I would assume, that he passed a course within that WK VI Lehrgang successfully in first half 1944.
As a result, he was then appointed Fhjk. d. Res. on 5.7.44, granted a week of leave on 1.7.44,
and finally sent to a Fahnenjunker-Schule afterwards.

This could be Fahnenjunkerschule V Posen.
Elements of this school took part in the combat at Warschau, led by Major Max Reck.
It is not clear from the SB entries shown, whether he was with that school, but :
He obviously took part in the fighting. After his wounding and while still in hospital,
he was promoted to Fhjk.-Feldwebel on 1.9.44, received a second promotion on 1.11.44 and finally was promoted to :
      Leutnant der Reserve on 9.11.44.

Therefore, I think it is at least likely, that he had participated in such a course for Offizier-Anwärter between
July 1944 and his actions in August 1944.

      Best regards,

      Archi

Thank you very much Archi! I think you are right on the money! The stamp on his Nahkampftage list says it all. Schule V .... FHJ
I'll try and make a better photo of it.

        Very much appreciated,

        Mats

Which unit was he actually assigned to during the uprising? Was he still with the school or Gren.-EuA.-Btl. 473?

Gerdan is correct the street is Börsenstr.

it was originally called Bielanska and is still called Bielanska today.
