Wehrpass and ID Disk Roll Numbers

    Dear All,

Is it common that roll numbers in the Wehrpass and on the ID tag are different?

    Best regards,
    Albert

Hi Albert, surely that tag cannot be from the same person as the book? I think it is a tag from the same unit but belonging to another man.

    Cheers, Ade.

      Hi Albert,

What does the 'Erkennungsmarke' entry at the front of the Wehrpaß read?

        Hi Guys,

Ade: Thanks, I thought I got it together but am not really sure now???

Matt: Nothing, unfortunately... there is no such entry in this type WP. I wish there were...

        Best regards,
        Albert

The stammrollen number is very, very rarely the same as the ID tag number. Even when issued by a field unit on the outbreak of the war.

That looks like his Erkennungsmarke as these were only issued after mobilisation, his other units would not have issued him one.

As Gary mentioned the Stammrollen nummer is rarely the same, however it does occur!

Is the Erkennungsmarke mentioned anywhere else in the Wehrpaß? They usually are mentioned somewhere....the early Wehrpaß did not have space on page 1 as previously mentioned they were only issued at mobilisation by which time the Wehrpaß had been updated and all those that held the old pattern made ammendments with the relevant info.

I just had a quick look at 50 or so WP where the Erkennungsmarke was issued upon the outbreak of war. Only one matched.

Actually in the Major von Tempelhoff thread you can see there they do not match.
