Postmortem annotation on a WP Sturm-Gesch.Abt. 242?

I have no clear this postmortem annotation on the the wehrpass of this officer of the Sturm.Gesch. Abt 242 fell south of Cassino on 8 January 1944.

The wehrpass is returned to the family one month after February 12, 1944.

There is this annotation on page 23 of the commander of 242 Hauptmann Ernst Benz (who will fall shortly after March 15, 1944) posdated April 1, 1944: is a post mortem promotion?

Salut Oriano. " Zum Batteriechef ernannt". For me just a simple Mistake between 1.4.43 (the date he joint the Stug.242 as a fresh promoted officer) and 1.4.44. This mention - which has also an honourific aspect - could have been made postumously, but if you already note Benz was KIA at this date, then it is for sure the first explanation. it seems very logical to me the explanation of Lionel .... however, even if it does not appear in the wehrpass it seems that it has also been promoted, I always think after his Death, Hauptmann ....
