WP & SB + Many Docs ! Pz.Gren.Rgt.304(2 div Pz)

    hi guys

i need your help here please to get as much infos as you can give, i have no idea what are these extra docs.

Soldbuch and Wehrpaß of "Oberfeldwebel" Hans Ulrich who served within several different units but mainly within Pz.Gren.Rgt.304 of the 2.Pz.Div.

Trained in the use of various weapons like M.G.34 , M.Pi.38/40 and H.Gran.Stiel ü.Ei (stick grenade and egg).

Ulrich participated in fightings at the "Maginotlinie" , Rumania , Bulgaria , Greece and finally Russia.

For his efforts , Ulrich was awarded the KvK II m.Schw. , the BWB , tge "Ostmedaille" , the EK II , the "Silberne Bulgarische Verdienstmedaille am Kriegsband" and the KvK I (only entered in the Soldbuch).

His "Zweitschrift" Soldbuch has been issued at 10-10-1944.

Comes with some personal belongings of Ulrich (pictures, negative, papers etc.) as found together in a wallet/portfolio.

i wonder what happened between his last WP entry and the date of his Zweitschrift, did he fight in Normandy as he got KVK1 on September 1944 ?

    Thank you

                Hello

Interressant documents group, of an old army NCO. I see no reason to say he wasnot in Normandie with 2. Pz Div. The award of KvK shows he was in Front sector but probably not in first line. Probaby in Staff or perhaps Hauptfw. and "Spiess" of 6./304.
As often, the Wp. entries are not complete, in particulary for the last fights. Of course for us, it is a pity !
Others papers came from his personal file, mix of military and private documents.

I fully agree with what Luft76 wrote before . After a quick Look, there is no reason for me to doubt about his attendance to the Normandy Fights with the 2.Pz.Div. The administrative Stuff that comes with, brings no particular interesting informations, but If you have specific questions about it, I will try to help.

One document I want to describe

                      Bescheinigung über Funksprechlehrgang 28.3. - 1.4.1944 - a certification of partification

in a training couse dealing with Radio telephony. Result: he is suitable as "Funksprecher"

radio operator. The couse was held in Friedeck - today Czechia.

Your guy survived the war and since 8.8.1945 he was working as "Landarbeiter" - agricultural

                        worker - in Wanfried.

                          page 21 - last entry:

He had a training as "Hauptgeräteverwalter" - equipment managers / machine administrator.

Sorry I do not find a better translation.

As wireless operator and/or equipment administrator in his unit it seems that he was working

with the staff and not in first front line.

In the top document in #6, every unit kept a (loose page) book called the Kriegsstammnummerbuch. Every soldier had a page and all important information (which was reflected in the Wehrpass, such as awards, battles, etc.) was kept on him while with the unit. When he was transfered to a new unit, this page was to be sent back to his Wehrmeldeamt, to be included in his personnel file (Wehrstammbuch). Look at page 12 in the Wehrpass, line 3 and 4, you will see Kr 62, that's his Kriegsstammnummer, for one of his units. Of course, as the war was ending, many documents were not sent.
