    2 Reiter-Regiment 24.Panzer-Regiment

Hello everyone, I want to show you guys my new purchase. For me this Wehrpass is a special one for various reasons. First of all I collect Dutch May 1940, second my grandfather was a Dutch soldier how fought against the 1. Kavallerie- Division during May 1940, and last but not least, the 24 Panzer-Division and in particulary the 24 Panzer- regiment are really intresting.

There is written a lot about the 1KD and 24PD, so I know already a lot, despite the many books I have a question. Erwin Vogel died in the North of Stalingrad during an aerial bombing (29.09.1942). I could unfortunally not traced the bombing in books or publications also Erwin is nowhere mentoined. Do you guys know more?
The last question is about his participation within the regiment. I know the 24Pz-rgt used Pz IV, the sign of his kommandant and the training in Kwk 40 could be a sign for me that he was a crewmember in a Pz IV, what do you guys think?

Thanks for helping and enjoy the Wehrpass!

              Hello !

Nice and interesting WP related to 1. Kav.-Div. and its conversion to 24. Pz.Div. and the fighting at Stalingrad.
              Thanks for showing !

Besides that, it clearly shows some interesting organizational topics :
              a) At mobilization, he served with Geb.Aufkl.Abtl 54 of 1. Geb.Div. This unit had a very unusual composition :
              -- one Reiter-Schwadron
              -- one Kradschützen-Kp.

              b) After the Poland campaign, several Aufkl.Abt. (also AA 54) were stripped of their Reiter-Schwadronen,
              to form Reiter-Rgt. 21 and 22 (for the upgrade from 1. Kav.Brig. to 1. Kav.Div.).
In Feb. 1940, II./Reiter-Rgt. 21 was dissolved again, to form II. Abteilungen of RR 1 and 2.
All that can be traced in this WP !

              Best regards,

              Archi

                Super nice Wehrpaß!

A quick look didn't turn up anything on Erwin Vogel, but here's a bit on his Platoon Leader, von Falkenhausen:
