My blue disease is back

His service with I./Flak Rgt.5 is of interest to me. The abteilung was the main flak unit put under the command of Gebirgs Korps Norwegen for the invasion of the Soviet Union. As such it was involved in the offensive from what was then Finnish Petsamo towards Murmansk.

The 5 Batterie was equipped with 12 X 2cm Flak30 or 38 divided into four 3 gun troops.

amongst the archives of Gebirgs Korps Norwegen, mention of I./Flak 5 can be found here and there, sometimes also on maps, in these cases, postions of the abteilung on the eve of the invasion of the Soviet Union, the Trifona map actually showing 1 zug from the 5 battery.

Taking a look at the Trifona positions of the zug from the 5 battery and what it looks like today from google maps.

The red lines marked in on the large-scale map indicate roughly the furthest extent for the German advance at the end of sept41 until oct 44.
