    Tank destruction entry

Here is a rather unusual entry for a TDB:

"Ärmelstreifen für die Vernichtung eines Panzer-Kampfwagen im Nahkampf"

"Sleeve stripe for the destruction of a tank in close combat"

Hi Naxos. Terminology is not often encountered, that's right. Nevertheless IMO, an excellent original entry !

Shot through the Soldbuch on the first day of Operation Barbarossa

and it's a close combat day to boot!

What I really like about this SB, is that the damage is documented with date and location. We also know that the rifle round must have come from the right side, entered his left breast pocket, pierced the Soldbuch and exited clean through his left upper arm.

He kept this Soldbuch for 2 1/2 years longer until it was replaced by a "Zweitschrift" in December 1943

A great SB and an highly informative dialogue between Naxos and Lionel. This is collecting, and the WAF, at its best!

                            Thanks to both of you.
