Thank you very much and I really appreciate your input. Now, it makes sense that he was attached to a Pionier Bataillon due to its profession as a master carpenter.
As it can be seen in the wound page, due to the intestinal problems (gastritis), he was hospitalized in the Reserve Lazarett of Lebach (next to Schmelz) for 2 months.
If someone has some information of the Pionier Bataillon 229, or any other Soldbuch/Wehrpass of this unit, do not hesitate to post it or send me a PM.

Thank you very much for your opinion about the Soldbuch. I am glad that you like it. In my opinion is a really nice one as he managed to obtain the EK I as a Sani, but also because he fought in the battles of Smolensk, Moscow, ... As well as in the defensive battles of Rzhev and Vitebsk.
