ID of Two Luftwaffe Mob Numbers?

71040 = 6./Kampf-Geschwader 77

Howdy - I have an interest in 6./JG77. I have the Honor Goblet of OFw Franz Schulte an Me-109 who went MIA after a dogfight.

Oberfeldwebel Franz Schulte claimed a LaGG-3 about 20km East of Vorenezh at 1240 hrs on August 12, 1942 at an altitude of 800 metres whilst with 6./JG-77. He then force-landed his Bf109 safely 6km North-North-East of Priwalowka & was reported safely on the ground unwounded behind enemy lines. (sorry don't know the distance between the two) this was his forty-first confirmed claim(three more u/c) If indeed he force-landed shortly after. He was never heard from again.

Just a long-shot but did this I.D. disc turn up in Russia? And is there anyway to determine the owner's name? Could it have been OFw Schulte's? Thanks for any info! Bob in Texas

It is 6./KG77 and not 6./JG77. So no connection to your Ofw. Schulte I’m afraid.

OOPS! Thank you Thomas! I guess I saw the 6/ and the 77 and got overwhelmed! LOL Based on info available Schulte just disapeared. No POW or grave record found, Oh well! Bob
