Great grouping Ian. Is there any particular reason as to why he would get a copy of the KVK citation when still possessing the original?

Not sure David,
Perhaps this was given to him in the field by his Company commander and the official given by the Battalion or attached Divisions commander!?
Quite a few were given "copies" but never asked anyone why... I will ask my uncle and see what he has to say.......
Anyone any ideas?

Nice grouping Ian, particulary like the listings of dates and places he served, might be interesting to plot his "travels" on a map from his merkblatt, makes me sound a bit of a sad git for thinking it though Though how many servicemen have you come across, who have so religously kept, such a detailed account of there movements during the war? Not many I bet.

It is something I have considered doing Ian, however I never get the time.....some of the diaries I have are quite detailed as well regarding dates, times, places but this group is pretty unique how he recorded it....
An ex Policeman and Justice Inspector no doubt ensured he kept good records.....
