German dog tag help please

    German dog tag help please

    I just picked this and haven't had to much luck finding any information. I did find a site that matched the information on the tag that covered information on soldiers death and nationality which were Finnish. Is this from that area of the war where Germany and Finland worked together.

    This isn't from Lapland where the German and Finnish troops fought side-by-side. No. And it certainly is not Finnish nor Finnish volunteer. You have been misinformed.

      No one has informed me of anything. The only thing I found was information from when I googled the information on the tag, so I decided to post it to see if there was any possibility.

          something weird with that tag. How come the first 9 isn't the same as the 2nd 9 used,,,and really the 6 as usually its the same stamp.. Some of the letters/numbers look plenty strange....
          Hopefully someone more up to date with tags will come on with an opinion on this. For me I wouldn't touch it..

            This is not a Finnish tag. Germans used "J" for "I" for Infantry - don't ask me why, I don't know, but they did. This has nothing to do with the Finnish JR69. Finnish tags were totally different, nothing like this. This is regular German tag from Infanterie Regiment 69.

              I was more or less wondering if this soldier was a german that was attached too that outfit. Thanks for your help and it’s a hard one to research.

                9th Kompanie of Infanterie Regiment 69, originally part of the Pre war Reichwehr. Not the usual font for this unit as far as I know. Anyone else got one from the 69th Infanterie?

                  I think I finally found the regiment. I keep forgetting to write Wehrmacht before what ever outfit I think I may be looking for. Is this correct. http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...ter/IR69-R.htm
