RAD/Heer Grouping Alfred Ruttenauer w/ Wehrpass

    Hi All,

Here is a nice little grouping (to me at least!) that I was fortunate enough to pick up at this past SOS. It consists of his Wehrpass, 3 award documents w/associated medals, and a postwar ID booklet that I am unfamiliar with.

My German is limited at best but here it is, an overall shot of the grouping and then medals with the docs to follow

                      10.

I have been trying to find more information on the red ID booklet, would other members be able to shed some more light on it?

                        Hello !

Interesting group and with sad connections, pointing to the persecution of jewish people in the Third Reich.
                        Thanks for showing it !

After his RAD service he volunteered (WP p. 6) for the service in Pi.-Btl. 32(mot), located in Schwedt.
With this unit (part of 2. ID(mot)), he saw action in Poland and France :
                        http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/.../PiBat32-R.htm
                        http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...sionen/2ID.htm

In Dec. 1940, he was dismissed, with reference to AHM 1940, Ziffer 1041 [WP, p. 26 ?!, #6].
This section refers to the fact that all soldiers, which are either 50% Jewish themselves or are
married to an at least 50% Jewish wife, had to be dismissed immediately.

Regarding the red ID book :
This is an Ausweis für Opfer des Faschismus [ID for victims of fascism].
This was issued under certain conditions :
                        https://www.europa.clio-online.de/qu...d/artikel-3543

As there is written "KZ" on this Ausweis, it might have been that he had been sent to a KZ himself,
but hopefully other members know that better.

                        Best regards,

                        Archi

The KZ-Verband/Verband der AntifaschistInnen (VdA) - Concentration Camp Association/Association of the Antifascists (VdA)....Opfer des Faschismus (OdF) - Victims of fascism (VoF) became the Association of Persecutees of the Nazi Regime/Federation of Antifascists (Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes – Bund der Antifaschistinnen und Antifaschisten) (VVN-BdA) was a confederation founded in 1947 and based in Berlin. The VVN-BdA, formerly the VVN, it emerged from victims' associations in Germany founded by political opponents to Nazism after the Second World War and the end of the Nazi dictatorship.

Here's a small group I have to Karl Ibach who was a communist and one of the first prisoners of Kemna concentration camp. Released but later re-arrested and sent to other concentration camps. Reprieved in 1943, only to be sent to Bewährungseinheit 999!

He wrote a book about this in 1948, of which I have a signed first edition. Also a reprint of his book and a copy of his biography.
Additionally his postwar VVN card. He was a co-founder and director of the Union of Persecutees of the Nazi Regime.
