    Back to the brown zone

After a little time infected by the blue disease (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=945339) I am back in the brown zone with a nice couple of piece, both from Werfer units.

First we have nice Soldbuch to an Officer, Hauptmann Kurt Menze.

He was a soldier before the war an a Pharmacist in his civil life.

He started as a future Panzergrenadier but changed to the Werfers after the opening of the Soldbuch.

His rank was changed from Feldwebel to Wachtmeister as he changed unit as normal because those artillery men don't like the word Feldwebel (they are like the cavalry, a little snobs)

He was wounded at the end of 1.943 and spent hospital time till September 21st, 1.944 when was back to service.

And if you are back into the service you need something to defend yourself so he purchased his second pistol, a French one on October 20th, 1.944, just one day after returning for his leave due his release from hospital (he was on leave from September 21st till October 21st)

The war is now knocking at the Reich's doors so he was back into combat and was outfitted properly on April 09th, 1.945, he received an MP 40, comps and binoculars.

He was a brave and diligent officer and this was rewarded during the war so he received the EK II, EK I, Ostmedaille, WBiB and KVK II with swords.

Here the entries for EK II and KVK II w S. Also his first pistol, maybe lost when wounded so the entry is crossed and in the added page the EK I and Ostmedaille.

A close up of his photo.

Interesting that he served fo more than two years as a front line officer, receive bravery, service and wound medals, but no Sturmabzeichen. Being at the front was not enough to receive an Assault Badge.
