    Hi,

Very nice one, that's a very well awarded soldier for a flakman!
To answer one of your questions, medical codes were the same for all units.

Thanks to all and yes, this is a chronicle disease without cure, just to keep it at bay you need to buy some more pieces from time to time.

I like it when it was showed to me as he received an early Barbarossa EK II, then to Krimea, wounded, back in action and earn awards all time.

Now researching a little the units, looks like he spent some time in Greece and Croatia but I have difficulties to find info on Flak units, maybe I am not so good with LW as with Heer, just a matter of perseverance and external help (yes, I mean you all LW freaks, help me)

Looks like a nice Soldbuch Angel
The dates on the unit page with LW Soldbücher are very nice, i wish that Heer Soldbücher had that..
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

Rick if the Heer Soldbuch were easy to read everybody could do it, where will be the fun?

Now I need some books and good webs to research this and future Flak pieces, any advise?

                  Hello Angel !

When I read, that you were turning your interest into Lw-Flak units, my first thought was :
WOW, he is searching for some very difficult tasks, for the long, cold winter nights still to come !

And then you confirmed it somehow :
                  >> Rick if the Heer Soldbuch were easy to read everybody could do it, where will be the fun? <<

Lw.-Flak units and understanding their subordinations is IMO a notoriouisly difficult task,
so probably you are on the right track ! Good luck for this "Project Blue" !

In the special case of this SB, it seems to be totally different, as two links seem to cover the
complete sequence of field units, but to me, this looks like the exception from the rule.
                  - First unit: 4./Flak-Rgt 64 = I.Abt. /Flak-Rgt. 64
                  - Second unit: Schw.Flak-Abt. 706(v) /Stab

The are a few books (in German) on Flak units (by H.A. Koch (2. Auflage) and by K.H. Hummels),
but I think neither one is completely satisfying.

The best Online source is www.wwii.dk.

                  Best regards,

                  Archi

P.S.: And then Ian was faster (of course).

                      Angel,

we talk about Ian, the MASTER.
                      absolutely true !

                      That's why :
                      a) he's faster, as he knows things, that others have to dig out
                      b) he also provided the correct link, (with a 2 instead of ii ) and I did not

Angel, have fun with your research of this really interesting Lw-SB !

                      Best regards,

                      Archi

                      P.S.: and I forgot :
                      c) he probably has also one or two SBs of this (or a very similar unit) in the same location !
                      That's also always very impressive.

Not surprisingly Ian has a good memory you did have a LW Soldbuch with a brown cover...I know because you sold it to me (and I thank you)!
