    Soldbuch with MKb42/MP43/MP44/StG44 entry

    Hello

How scarce are these? I am looking for one for some time and they seem nearly non existing. There is one for sale on Giels Militaria but the "Sturmgewehr" entry seems odd with no date and signature.

What do you think about the one below?

    Thanks
    Jacek

Looks like he was the armourer/weapons NCO as he signed the entry himself!

Would a weapon like that be issued to second line security troops?

Interesting - I would ask the same question as JUNGCO

Here is an entry of a Sturmgewehr in a Soldbuch in my collection.

These units in Norway had a mix of weapons.....I have a couple of snipers from the same unit......will check if I can find them!

              EDIT: Not Norway.......

              Festungs-Infanterie-Fla-Bataillon 837

              12 Offizieren
              62 - Unteroffizieren
              419 - Mannschaften

Unless the Soldbuch has two covers......the top photo does not match the second photo.......there are staples on the outer that are not there on the inner and likewise the inner staple does not show on the outer!

Nice! And that's one very late issue - 30/04/1945. Few days before the very end

Here a MP44 entry. This guy (Feldwebel) was probably a Zugführer.
                      He fought in the Ardennes.

                            Hello all !

                            Some remarks/questions :
                            - I think the "entry question" is still unanswered : How scarce is such an MP43 (or equivalent) entry in a SB?

                            - And as I am still trying to understand the SB-weapon entries : Which of the following are the same :
                            MKb42 /MP43 /MP 44 /StuG 44 /Selbstladegewehr ?

                            Regarding Fla-Btl. 837 :
This is an interesting unit !
In addition to what Ian wrote, it might be interesting, that Fla-Btl. 837 was equipped with 2cm Drilling guns on U-Boot sockets.
Each co. with 4 platoons of 5 squads (one Drilling each), for a total of 4x4x5=80 Drilling guns/240 barrels !
A considerable firepower! It was committed since January 1945, West of the Kaiserstuhl (20 km W of Freiburg),
to guard the ferries supplying the Colmar bridgehead against low flying aircraft. The drawback was, that the whole unit
                            was totally immobile.
Elements of this unit fought near Kehl as infantry in April 1945, and later joined the remnants of Fla.Btl. 837,
fighting without their guns, near Furtwangen around the 25th of April. (Info from Freter: Fla nach vorn !)

However: on p. 6/7 of the SB the 2nd entry is made by 8./sich.Rgt. 99 and dated 16.4.45.
So, he may have joined Fla-Btl. 837 only at the very end ?!

                            Best regards,

                            Archi

                              Hello !

Maybe, it is impossible to say, whether such an entry is scarce, or the thread is outdated already .

The reason for my second question :
Which of the following are the same :
                              MKb42 /MP43 /MP 44 /StuG 44 /Selbstladegewehr ?
Below I will post the summary of weapons for Div.Nr. 805 for March, 1st, 1945, which should include the weapon in the SB shown here.

At this time, the Div. had under control a number of Badische Volkssturm-Btle., I. and II./Sich.Rgt. 99, Gren.Btl. z.b.V. 291,
                              Pol.Btl. Deggingen, Fest.Inf.Fla-Btls. 803 and 837, elements of Ukr.Frw.StammRgt. 3 and a few other Btls in formation,
as well as some Arty and supply units.

So no regular Inf.Rgts. at all, and I would rate all of this Btls. at the same level of of a typical Sich.Btl. or way lower
(maybe with the exception of Btl. zbV 291, of which I have no info).

Nevertheless, the division had 74 StuG. 44 and 465 Selbstladegewehre under its control.
Therefore, I would like to understand, which kind of weapons fell into this category : Selbstladegewehre.
(was this ever used as weapon entry in a Soldbuch ?)

Depending on whether there is an answwer on that, the question asked by JUNGCO and naxos might be possible to answer (or estimate) :
Would a weapon like that be issued to second line security troops?
                              Thanks and best regards,
