          Hello Doug,

He was a Sonderfuhrer, or technical specialist with what appears to be the rank of Leutnant. All brances of service had them. Yes, he was assigned to the airbase at Stavanger where he was also awarded the EK. IMO, I do not belive this was a double award. The entry itself is very odd and questionable.

          Regards

He is a Technishce Inspektor (Flieger) der Beurlaubtenstandes or a Technical Inspector (Aircraft) of Reserve.
He is of Beamten rank (Official) and should have the Wehrsoldgruppe 9 (Oberleutnant). Also would have completed a 1½ year course at the Fliegertechnische Schule 1, Adlershof.

Very questionable entry for the EK I!!!!

Maybe specialised in something but chances are it was his home town Lazarett or nearest to his station.
I see that there is an entry on page 4 for Fliegerhorstkommandaner Braunschweig-Broitzen......interestingly Fallschirmschule 3 was there also!

Do the dates match up with this entry?

Prior to that he was as Feldluftpark 3/XI....does that say Paris in the brackets?

                      /Ian

                          FP Nr. 42231:

                          (30.7.1941-28.2.1942) Flieger-Geräte-Ausgabestelle Rovaniemi,
                          (1.3.1942-7.9.1942) Flieger-Geräte-Ausgabe- u. Sammelstelle 9/III, then Flieger-Geräte-Ausgabe- u. Sammelstelle 2/III.

                          Rovaniemi is in Finland/Lapland.

I don't think it is Paris not sure.....are there any other entries that correspond with that unit?

In fact I think it is Pori....Feldluftpark Pori was again in Finland.

                          Other FP Nr:

                          07082 - 3 Kriegslazarett, Kriegslazarett-Abteilung 677

                            Hello Ian,

Good info. Definitly of the (Fl) Flugzeugtechnischer Dienst. His shoulder boards are of the thinner type worn after 1939. In this case as a Wehrmachtbeamter Ingenieur a. Kr. (Oberleutnant). The photo should be able to show the smaller alluminum slide centerd on the shoulder boad desigating his status as Oberleutnant. Interestingly, the Oberleunant rank was not designated Sonderfuhrer, but only Wehrmachtbeamter! However, the other grades were designated by the title Sonderfuhrer Wehrmachtbeamter a. Kr.

                            Regards
