    Jimmy,
all that I can tell you ( even not seeing the tag) is that it is a fake. The very simple reason for it is that such a unit never existed.

          Hi Jimmy,

Unfortunately, you picked one of the most difficult areas to start with. SS identity discs are one of the most heavily-faked items there are- the vast majority of the ones you're likely to see are bad.

We can't really tell you for sure about the other two discs you have without images, but I'll be surprised if they're real- those are some pretty rare units and I've seen many fakes of both.

              Hi Dennis,

Regrettably just the information stamped on a disc isn't helpful in determining authenticity unless, as in the case of jimmy's Panzergrenadier disc, the unit simply never existed. In the case of yours, there was certainly an SS-Panzer-Regiment 5, but that doesn't mean anything. We'd need to actually see it to evaluate its characteristics- that's how we'd determine if it's authentic or not. Try using an online image host like http://imageshack.us/index3.php then just paste the 'direct link to image' URL into a post using the 'Insert Image' button at the top of the 'Message' box when you write a post.

                Here's Dennis' disc:

I've matched the letters to definite fakes in my database, but of course other opinions are welcome.

Unfortunately, no- I don't believe either one of those is authentic. The supposed Gebirgsjäger disc is made with the same letters as that one Dennis asked about, and not only that but there's no Umlaut over the 'A' in 'JAG'. The SS SS Pz. Rgt. 1 disc's problem is that double-SS. It appears to be indicating that it's '1. SS' (Panzer Division) 'SS Panzer Regiment 1', which is redundant, and also insufficient; I've never seen both the Division and Regiment marked on a 100% authentic disc, but it seems common on fakes (the Gebirgsjäger disc is a good example), and there's no Kompanie of SS-Panzer-Regiment 1 marked. Sorry Jimmy.

Since you just started, can you return these 3 discs?
