    Wehrpass (Pz Jäg 532)

    Hello evrybody,

I have some questions about the Wehrpass I recently bought. Some parts of the Wehrpass are difficult to translate for me. I know the Wehrpass belongs to Max Jackstein a Panzer Jäger of the 532 Grenedier-Regiment. I know he was fighting in Russia and died through shrapnel. Some parts of the Wehrpass remain a bit vague to me.

I don't know where he was born probarly East-Prussia I suggest. He was awarderd but i dont have any idea about the kind of award (P.23). The pages 32/34/35 are really hard to translate for me. Hopefully you will help me.

Im also intrested in more information about this specific regiment. I have bought the Wehrpass and the Heldentod urkunde together. I recently started my collection sometimes I think sellers want to take advantage of it. I have bought it for 90 euro total. I'm curious about your opninion of the price.

    Kind regards,

(Pictures see link, scroll down for the first picture)

He was born in Lappienen, Kreis Labiau/ Königsberg, Ostpreussen. Lappienen was called Daudertshöfen between 1938 and 1946.

Page 34 tells that he died on 26.01.1943 by shrapnel pieces(Granatsplitter) in the area of Lomigory(Oblask Lipetsk). He was wounded before by shrapnel pieces in his back and his stomach on 28.10.1942. For this he received the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz on 10.11.1942(P. 23).

Page 32 is his battle calendar. Most of his active service he fought with the 383. Infanterie-Division near Woronesch.

He is also listed on the Volksbund with the following information:

    Nachname: Jackstien
    Vorname:Max
    Dienstgrad:Gefreiter
    Geburtsdatum:26.12.1915
    Geburtsort: Daudertshöfen
    Todes-/Vermisstendatum:26.01.1943
    Todes-/Vermisstenort: Lomigory

      Hello !

There cannot much be added to the info provided by Aram.

If you want to learn more details on the organization of his regiment (Inf./Gren.Rgt. 532):
It was organized into 3 Inf.Btls. (each with 3 regular Inf.cos., 1 heavy co.)
      a 13th Inf.Geschütz-Kp. and a 14th Pz.Jg.Kp.
The 14th co. should have been equipped with 3- 3,7cm Pak and 4- 5cm Pak.
Here is a good visualization of such a unit :
      http://www.wwiidaybyday.com/kstn/kstn184c1nov41.htm
(This is the authorized organization, the actual composition might have differed
considerably, depending which weapons and vehicles were available.)

Regarding his units of service :
As his medical exam qualifies him as (p. 11, top): g.v.H. (garnisons-verwendungsfähig Heimat)
he was first posted in July 1941 to a Standort-Btl. z.b.V. (which I think had the task
to secure/maintain local garrisons/installations inside the Reich).

With the crisis developing at the Eastern front in Winter 1941/42, additional forces had to
be raised, and therefore he was posted to 383. ID, to stabilize the crumbling front.

Regarding the question on the "value" of this WP:
I cannot give you any number, I would think that it largely depends on your main interest
in collecting such documents and what attracted you on this one.
If that is known, it might be possible to judge, whether this doc is a close match to that
or not, and from that on, whether it is worth its price (for you).

      Hope this helps, best regards,

      Archi
