    Pz Abt 116 Soldbuch

I picked up this Soldbuch recently of a soldier in Pz Abt 116 and later Pz Gren. It appears to have a bullet hole in it and the photo has been torn out.

                Hello !

Interesting Soldbuch with many interesting entries.
                Thanks for sharing !

                Pz.Abt. 116 was formed from I./Pz.Rgt. 1 in 1942, this explains
the entry for the replacement unit in Erfurt, bottom on p. 4.
It seems, that he was trained as an officer candidate from very early on
for about 6 months (entries p.15 and 23(top)).

For the timeframe from mid 1943 onward, when he joined Pz.Abt. 116,
there exists a report with interesting details on this unit :
                http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...erAbt116-R.htm

I would be very interested in the first entry on p.22 :
Ist berechtigt das ...-... Abzeichen zu tragen.
Can somebody decipher (and maybe even explain) what this is ?!

                Best regards,

                Archi

                    Hello Naxos !

Many thanks for the answer. That was fast !!

If I understand correctly, this refers to the standard, two (or double) "Litzen" (I do not know the translation)
on the shoulderboards, indicating officer candidates, as shown in the link below ?
                    http://www.wehrmachtlexikon.de/heer/.../nachwuchs.php

I never saw that kind of entry in a Soldbuch, was it common or more "untypical" ?

                    Thanks, and best regards,

                    Archi

thank you for the replies, since he was KIA, this could explain the photo being removed.
