    1. Pz.Rgt.1, V.Gren. Rgt. Grossdeutchland Soldbuch

I would like to present IMO a very rare item,...1. Pz.Rgt.1, V.Gren. Rgt. Grossdeutchland Soldbuch belonging to an Leutnant officer. PAB silver, KVK2, EK2, Ost medal, sudeten medal, PZ. Schutzenschnur + army, IV. years medal,...Unfortunately missing the portrait picture.

Can anybody tell me more if there is something special written in it?
    thanks

          V./GrenRgt "Großdeutschland" (5.Pz.Kp)

Signed by Oberleutnant Wilhelm Greisberg (Knight's Cross April 14, 1945)

also: Oblt. Günther Famula served as platoon leader in this company when he was awarded the Knight's Cross in May 1944

V/Gren.Rgt GD was the cover name for Führer-Begleit-Btl. Not overly rare as late war SB to this unit do pop up from time to time, although this has the added bonus of being for an officer.

Thanks guys for your comment. You truly are experts. I would like to ask,...so is this a Panzer unit? As he received the silver PAB.

                  Hello !

Interesting Soldbuch and great info given in this thread !
                  >> V/Gren.Rgt GD was the cover name for Führer-Begleit-Btl.<<

Maybe the following links are of interest :
                  Developement of "Führerbegleit-Bataillon" :
                  http://www.axishistory.com/axis-nati...leit-bataillon
Link to another member of 5./V :
                  http://www.forum-der-wehrmacht.de/in...277#post451277
According to the 2nd link, 5.Kp. had 17 Pz IV(lang) and 5 StuG III in early 1944.

Are there any entries on p.12/13, which could give hints on his earlier units ?

                  Best regards,

                  Archi
