A nice example of a soldbuch belonging to SS Sturmann Woditsch, 3/SS Frw. Kavallerie Regt. 1. Includes matching erkennungsmarke and documents.
He joined the SS Kav. training batl, later upgraded to a regiment in Warsaw, in March 1944. Woditsch was issued a K98 and P08 on May 30, 1944, I believe his division was already in process of being formed.
Oddly he received a promotion that has a stamp of the SS Kav Rgt 15 and not his own unit. Possibly a transfer of equipment that went with the core of people used to build the 22nd SS Division.
The division saw action in southern Hungary/Romanian border in the fall and Woditsch was wounded by schrapnel in October and hospitalized for several months. He was awarded the Wound Badge in Black.
The last wartime date is March 31, 1945 and he received is tobacco ration. Later in June 1945 he received pay. So I am not sure if he stayed in the hospital or was transfered to the forming of the 37 SS Kav. Div that saw action against the Americans.
No POW number in the soldbuch. A shame that the rivets rusted out the photo.
