Hi all!
It took me a while to understand what Jeff wrote. I think he wanted to point out, that the
late date of 20.10.44 could be explained, if it's a Wehrpass Zweitschrift.
My question would be, whether a SS-Wehrpass would be filled in very similar to that in the Heer ?!
In that case, I am missing on p. 1 the Wehrnummer and also the signature (and stamp) of the
Kdr. of the Wehrbezirks-Kdo.
Instead, on p.1 is the stamp of his last field unit., 6./SS-Pz.Art.Rgt 5, (therefore the O.U.),
which also has entered his promotion entries. (Which he must have achieved with earlier units.)
But, perhaps this all can be explained, because he was an Auslandsdeutscher (from Rumania) ?
If it is the normal case, that all entries on p. 1 are already there, when a soldier enters his
first replacement unit, then the clerk has perhaps orders (or his own routine):
On p. 1 you enter only the EKM entry.
Is it possible, that most of the administrative work on this WP was done, around the time
in mid Oct. 44, when he was sent back to his replacement unit ?!
(and never finished: because the signature on p.1 is still missing ?)
Just my 2 cents.
Best regards,
Archi
