Felix Prentki, the civilian musician aged 31 enlisted into the Wehrmacht on June 29th 1943 in Bromberg. He would report to Stamm.Kp.Gren.Ers.Btl.(mot) 60 and was immediately moved to 4th Kompanie of the Gren.Ausb.Btl. 156 (which provided replacemnts for the 16th Infantry Division) which at the time was stationed at the sea of Azov for troop refreshment after fighting a series of defensive battles in the Mariopol-Stalino area. June 1943 would see the the division become the 16th Panzer Grenadier Division, part of the newly formed 6th Army after the formers encirclement in Stalingrad. Felix presumably saw his first action in the areas of Mius, Zaporozhye, and Krivoi Rog.

1943 would come and pass without Felix winning any awards or any hospitalization, but 1944 would see a change of scenery for Felix. On January 19th Felix was for some unknown reason transferred again (as noted on the unit supplies page) and by February 29th found himself in Nebel.Ers.Rgt.2. March 13th saw Felix issued a pistol and rifle and from March 23-30th he was approved by his Oberleutn.u.Battr.Chef for leave. Some point in May? Felix was issued supplies by Werr.Rgt. 84 which was either stationed at Omaha Beach / At different areas of Normandy / In Reserve (conflicting reports and information). June 6th Felix would have been witness to the Normandy landings in some capacity as he would be promoted to Gefreiter on July 1st while serving in the 6th battery of Werfer.Rgt. 84. Felix’s last Soldbuch entry would be July 7th, denoting a pay upgrade by the Oberzahlmeister (stamped with a feldpost nummer of 05??) It was wafter this last entry that Felix was presumably captured as he cannot be found on the Volksbund.

The replacement units of the 60th and 156th Grenadier Regiments were located in Rheine and Lingen, Germany
Since the first front-line unit was Werfer-Rgt. 84, it is unlikely that Prentki saw any action before summer 1944.
He was probably taken prisoner or KIA in one of his first engagements.
Prentki is not among the MIA - but the page below shows the fighting II.Werfer-Rgt.84 was involved during July and August 1944.Last edited by naxos; 04-10-2017, 02:33 AM.

Thanks again Naxos i was able to find what seems like solid information regarding Werfer-Brigade 7. (werfer-Rgt. 83 & 84) which co-incides with the red cross information you provided. It would appear that 83 and 84 werfer-rgt also sent delegations out to each beachhead as they too had their own emplacements.

Thanks Simon, the reason I suggested it was because there is some Osprey literature that places contingents of the 84th Werfer Regiment at Omaha and at Point Du Hoc as per this discussion;
