Per my understanding, this guy got the EK 1st and 2nd class, plus a Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2 class (?) but this is the far I can go.

    Here some pics 01 02 03

He was killed in action on January 31, 1944 near a small village (Schlanderaoko) east of Tscherkassy.

            Thanks Naxos!

Now I'm still trying to figure out which regiments he fought for. The Granadier is ok, but the 'Something III / F.R' still a mistery for me.

Again, thanks all for your support!

                  Hello !

What looks like a F.R. is just an oldstyle way of German writing of the letter J, which they
used for I.R. (=Inf.Rgt.). So he was always in 255. Inf.Div. from the start of the war :
                  http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...onen/255ID.htm

which had Inf.Rgts 455,465,475. In May 1942, his first Inf.Rgt. 455 was dissolved, because of
the high losses and distributed among the other 2 Rgts, so he was transferred to the
HQ of the III. Btl. of Inf.Rgt. 475.

In Nov., 1943, according to the Lexikon, 255. Inf.Div. was dissolved and incorporated
into a unit designated Korps-Abteilung B (which then fought at Tscherkassy).
So likely he was part of this (adhoc) unit when he fell.

                  Best regards,

                  Archi
