    Feldpostnummern?q

    Hi Guys,

I've got a couple of numbers that I suspect could be Feldpostnummern, so if someone can confirm this for me and give me whatever details are available, I'd appreciate it. I don't have timeframe information about either one, unfortunately- just the numbers.

    1) 25599 B

    2) 91893

From what Ian wrote in his pinned post about Feldpostnummern, I understand that 91983 falls outside the range he mentions, but I can't really think of what else the number could mean. It's on an Erkennungsmarke that's marked 'Feldlazarett 91893', and it sure ain't a Division number

    Thanks.

    Matt

      Hi Matt,

Regarding 25599 B, the B would indicate a Kompanie or lower echelon of the unit, however looking at what williwo provided then I can not see it denoting a Kompanie! Normally B would not indicate Stab, Reiter or Nachrichten Zug....so I would be in two minds whether this is a FP Nr. or not!

Regarding 91893 and the marking Feldlazarett.....again that does fall outside the FP Nr. range and I would also be in two minds whether this is a FP Nr. or not!

Can you provide a scan where these are mentioned?

FP Nr. are not normally found on Erkennungsmarke!

      Regards, Ian

        Hi Guys,

        Okay, here are the images:

I made a bit of a mistake here- as you can see, the disc is marked on the back 'B 25599'- not '25599 B'- presumably scratched-in by its original owner, which is why I thought perhaps it might be a Feldpostnummer. But the fact that the 'B' is in front is odd- otherwise the units that williwo suggested fit well with the Flak MG unit. I had originally wondered if the '25599' had represented a Luftwaffe coded unit, but that would mean the 'B' was a blood group letter, and that's contradicted by the 'A' on the disc's obverse.

        Here's the Feldlazarett disc:

Certainly, yes, Feldpostnummern don't usually appear on Erkennungsmarken, but in this case, that seemed a reasonable possibility. It's not a standard unit number (those only barely went over 1000 by the end of the war), so if it's not a Feldpostnummer, I suppose I have to return to my original theory that it's a special code for Lazarette or something of that nature.

Fla MG Res.Komp. is not Luftwaffe but Heeres Flieger Abwehr.

Heeres Flak wore red Waffenfarbe and Fla wore white Infanterie Waffenfarbe.....I wouldn't expect Heeres to join Luftwaffe units, however I have seen it the other way round with Lw. Flak joining Heeres Flak Artillerie!

          Unless he joined HG perhaps?

If I remember correctly these Fla units were disbanded in 1942 and were integrated into Pz.Jäger or Heeres Flak Artillerie units......

Can't say anything else on the Feldlazarett....

          /Ian

Aw geez- of course! It's Flugabwehr MG Reserve KOMPANIE- if it were either Luftwaffe or Heeres-Flak-Artillerie, it would be a Batterie. Of course now I remember realizing that once upon a time when I first got the disc, but for some reason I didn't bother noting anything, so when I pulled it out yesterday I just thought of it as a regular Flak unit. Dummkopf! Thanks Ian. Of course that still leaves the number a complete mystery...
